Obituary For Victor L Perkins Jr

Victor (VL) Leroy Perkins, Jr. passed away at home in Des Moines, Washington on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the age of 62.

Victor is predeceased by Father Victor Leroy Perkins, Sr., Mother Blondell Lee Perkins, Brother Stephen Randolph Perkins, and Brother Christopher Michael Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife Hiroko (Maya) Perkins whom he married in Tokyo, Japan 34 years ago. From their union came his loving daughter Monique Aiyaka Perkins.

VL was born in Hannibal, Missouri on June 24, 1956. In 1962, the family moved to Peoria, IL. In 1974, he graduated from Manual High School and went on to further his education at Bradley University before joining the United States Navy. He served his country from 1979 to 1986, earning many medals and recognition for his service and an honorable discharge. In 1986, Victor relocated his family from Japan to Seattle, where he worked at the Seattle Public Library for many years prior to beginning his employment with Seattle Public Schools.

Victor had a passion for music – writing it, singing it, playing it, and enjoying it with his family. He also enjoyed watching and playing sports with his brothers. He loved to read and took pride in his writing.

Victor is lovingly remembered by his sister Stephanie Perkins, brother David Perkins, brother Jeffrey Perkins, sister Cynthia Perkins, sister Heather Perkins, niece Paula Perkins, nephew Marquis Perkins, niece Caitlin Perkins, and a host of extended family (Perkins and Hamilton) and friends.
