Obituary For Georgia Telly Phillips

Our beloved sister, daughter, auntie, cousin, niece and friend, was born on June 20, 1991 to Donna Phillips and Todd Williamson. Georgia was blessed to be raised by her loving mother Peggy A. Willams. After Peggy’s passing in 2001, Georgia was cared for and guided by her sister, who became a mother figure in her life, Kamilah Brown.

Affectionately known as Pooh, Georgia was a talented writer, poet, rapper, and spoken word artist, winning a poetry slam while a student at Garfield High School that showcased her powerful voice and talent. Writing was her way to release pain and the struggles of everyday life. She leaves behind many notebooks with her poems, prayers, and rap lyrics, a lasting reflection of her creativity and spirit.

She attended Madrona and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, Meany Middle School, and Garfield High School. Raised in the church, she attended Powerhouse COGIC in her youth where she sang in the children’s choir. As a child Georgia attended Wednesday night prayer with her family, she never forgot how to pray, and in her twenties, accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Often outside with a speaker playing music and making rap songs, she loved music. Georgia also enjoyed cooking and would frequently remind us she could cook up something good in the kitchen. While she could be quiet around those she did not know, those close to her knew she had a vibrant personality and always had something to say.

Georgia never met a stranger and freely shared what she had with others. Her beautiful smile would light up the room whenever she saw family and friends. She worked at Saars and Safeway grocery stores where she enjoyed connecting with people. Georgia was a trained barber, she could style you up with a fresh cut and she often cut her own hair.

Georgia will be missed tremendously, especially her smile and infectious sense of humor. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. We will carry her legacy of love forward and forever remember our Pooh.

Georgia is preceded in death by her mom, Peggy A. Williams. Georgia’s light will carry on through her mother, Donna Phillips; fathers, Michael Brown and Todd Williamson; Grandmother, Josh Ella Phillips; sisters, Kamilah Brown; , Shakilah Brown, Monica Vaughn, Donisha Gibson, and Shontica Williamson; brothers, Sean Phillips, Jamal Phillips, Shaka Brown, and Jamaal Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11am at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 2801 S Jackson St. Seattle, WA 98144. Repast immediately following at Rainier Beach Community Center.
