Obituary For VICKI LYNN McGAVRAN

Vicki was born in Seattle June 6, 1966 to Ray VanLandeghen and Jerri VanLandeghen Kaeser. Her early days were spent living with her mother in Burien, attending Highline Public Schools. Music was her passion from a young age.

After moving to a new home, she continued her education in the Renton school district, graduating from Oliver Hazen High School with the class of 1984. While there she took part in every choir class she could find. She also met her future husband, Mark McGavran.

She took classes at Olympic College while living at her grandmother’s home on Wildcat Lake. Her ashes will be spread there, joining her grandmother.

Her career with the phone company started in August 1995. She joined Pacific Northwest Bell which is now Lumen. She spent 28 years rolling with the punches and enjoying it!! Her last job title was Client Support Manager. She thrived on the fast paced work, loved helping her clients and her co-workers. They described her as always smiling and happy and super smart. Although she was retirement-eligible she chose to continue working, which was a testament to her dedication and loyalty.

Mark and Vicki tied the knot October 10, 1998 and continued having fun and adventures. They were avid Nascar fans either attending races with friends or watching at home. Both being dog lovers, they fostered Siberian Huskies through various rescue groups and placed more than 100 in their forever homes. Their own home was never without fur friends.

Most recently, Vicki’s love of music got them involved with the karaoke community. She was very excited to be given the position of Director of Admissions for the International Karaoke Cup. With her previous participation in the organization of many karaoke contests, she was well equipped for the job. Her presence will be missed. Many participants remember her sunny disposition, welcoming hugs, and the encouragement she gave to those having doubts.

Vicki passed quite unexpectedly February 19th with Mark at her side.

Always a caregiver, Vicki had shared giving aid during the last days of her dad, Ray, and in laws, George and Carla Lankow. She’ll be seeing them now as she plays with the pets that went before. She’s also joining her grandparents, Ben and Shirley Kinsman, and Louis and Myrt VanLandeghen.

Left to miss her besides Mark are her mother and stepfather, Jerri and John Kaeser. She leaves stepsiblings, Kim (Kevin) Fulton, John Jr (Barb) Kaeser, Rich (Kristi) Kaeser, Todd (Tammy) Holman, and Tim (Della) Holman. Also surviving are her in-laws, Gary and Cynthia McGavran James and Karen Metcalfe, and Larry and Chris McGavran. Cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends are feeling the loss.

A celebration of life will be held April 16 at 1pm at the Burien Community Center, 14700 6th Ave. SW, Burien.

Rememberances may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital where Vicki received excellent care as a child.
