Van Pal passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the age of 68 in Bellevue, Washington at Overlake Hospital. During her most recent years, she battled with many medical health issues such as pulmonary hypertension, high cholesterol, vitamin D deficiency, heart disease due to high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and stage 3 chronic kidney disease due to long term use of insulin. Despite these difficult challenges, she showed how strong she was and woke up every day with a cheerful attitude and bright smile that will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Van was born on June 6, 1956 in Kampong Speu, Cambodia. During her early 20s, she fled Cambodia due to a war outbreak, and settled in a few refugee camp in Thailand. In these refugee camps, she met many wonderful and amazing people who became very close family friends. On December 1989, she refuged to Bellevue, Washington to rebuild a new life with her husband Lay Heng, and three daughters, Muy Leng, Heang and Ny. As time flew by, Van was a wife, mother of three and grandmother of seven. She was always loving and caring to others—always willing to give a helping hand out to anyone if she can, whether they were family or complete strangers. Family and friends are gathered here today to wish Van Pal a safe journey into the afterlife and she will not be forgotten by many.
