Obituary For Ted Galloway Stock

TED GALLOWAY STOCK passed away at the age of 94 on Monday, August 8, 2022.

Ted was born on April 25, 1928 in Fish Haven, Bear Lake County, Idaho. He grew up in a poor family with two much-older brothers who left the home early in his childhood, so he was raised essentially as an only child. He learned to work very hard for everything he needed doing farm labor and milking cows. He gained a reputation in the small town as a very hard worker, so the locals who needed jobs done around their small farms and homes knew they would get their money's worth for the $1.50 a day they would pay him.

At the age of seventeen, in his senior year of high school, he determined he had enough credits to graduate early, so he joined the Navy and got on a train headed for boot camp in San Diego - the first time he had ever been outside of Southern Idaho/Northern Utah. He was then put on a boat and shipped off to Pearl Harbor. This was shortly after the end of the war, and he loved the Navy! He later attended Utah State University on the GI Bill where he met Dorothy Gillis, whom he married on June 3, 1951. They were later sealed in the Logan, UT LDS temple in 1962. They eventually landed in the Seattle area where they raised their family.

Ted and Dorothy are the parents of five children: Barbara (Jim) Helland, Diane (Phil) Stoker, Jan (Roger) Rife, Ted (Sue) Stock and Kay (Rob) Wahlstrom. They have 18 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Dorothy passed away on December 30, 2012 after 61 years of marriage.

In 2014, he married a long-time friend, Marie Hill of Mesa, AZ, who passed away in 2021. If you ask any of Ted's children or grandchildren, they will tell you of his kindness, his helpfulness, his service, and his love of his family, God, and country. (Of course, they will also tell you how much they enjoyed spending time at the cabin he built in the late '50s on Mason Lake.) As a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he was a man of great faith, service and integrity. He and Dorothy are now having a happy reunion!
