Obituary For Robert Franklin Jackson
Robert Franklin Jackson, affectionately known as Bob or Woody, passed away at his home in Renton, Washington on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 88.
Born November 5, 1936, in Stevenson, Alabama, Bob was the third youngest of Amos and Maude Jackson’s 13 children. He is now reunited with his siblings, Ethel, Larry, George, Pauline, Treva, Jean, Thelma, Vera, Etta, Amos Jr., Tommy, and Clarence, all of whom predeceased him. Despite the challenges of growing up in a large family, Bob was deeply loved and cherished by his parents and siblings.
After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1955, Bob married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sara, on August 13, 1955. Their adventurous spirit took them to Texas, where Bob worked for Baldridge Bakery and they began their family, welcoming four wonderful children: Amos Brian Jackson, Robert Jeffery Jackson, Elizabeth Ann Jackson Magbaleta, and Sandra Kay Minniti.
You will not find a harder worker than Bob starting out as a young boy working in the coal mines with his dad all the way until the day he retired. Bob’s tireless work ethic and integrity earned him numerous promotions which were accompanied by relocations. He and his family moved to Tennessee, then Kentucky while working for Time DC Inc., and finally to Washington state where Bob spent the remaining 48 years of his life. Starting as a truck driver with various companies, he eventually made his way to executive management at Lynden Transport in Seattle. He later took a bold leap by founding his own company Transportation Consolidators Inc. with Sara. The business thrived and Bob cherished the opportunity to work alongside his sons.
Family was the cornerstone of Bob’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who took immense joy in watching his family grow and excel. He delighted in spending time with his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, cheering them on at their activities and sporting events. Bob’s pride in his family was immeasurable and his legacy as a “Jackson” will be forever cherished.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge #841. His life motto was epitomized by Frank Sinatra’s song “My Way;” celebrating life’s special moments with a shot of Jack Daniels. He lived his life with wisdom, strength, and a sense of humor, touching countless lives and forging lifelong friendships.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Sara, his son Brian and daughter-in-law Mandy, his son Jeff and family (partner Sandi, grandchildren Tanya, Jeffery, Katie, and Emma, and great grandchildren Makayla, Wyatt, Meghan, Sydney, Alex, Audrey, and Adriana), his daughter Beth and family (son-in-law Eric and grandson Brody), and his daughter Sandy and family (son-in-law Mark and grandson Zach).
Bob lived a remarkable life, embodying the qualities of love, dedication, and kindness. While he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him.
