Obituary For Lydia Morrison-Bush

Lydia “Mama Lydia” Morrison-Bush, age 84, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of Federal Way, a retired Nurse, caregiver, and former Eastern Star New Orleans Chapter, transitioned from this world at The Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA., into eternal rest surrounded by her family and Doctor Leah Hasley of Natural Causes on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Her journey began July 17, 1939, when she was born to the union of Albert and Clothilde Mitchell Morrison. She was baptized at an early age, by the late Rev. Lawrence Landrum of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA. Her education began, in New Orleans LA. at St. Raymond Catholic School and graduated from McKinley High School and Southern University in Baton Rouge LA., also The Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. Employed at Charity Hospital Labor and Delivery, JoEllen Smith, and Hotel Dieu Hospitals, Veterans Cab Service New Orleans, LA., Foothill Nursing Home, and The Wheeler House as an Administrator for the Mentally Disabled in Oakland California. Later retiring to take care of her family, until her untimely sickness. She is the beloved mother of six children; the late Shirletta Jessie (Raymond) Tate, and Vertis’ Jessie (Kirk) Bowers of New Orleans, LA. Verbon Jessie of Seattle WA., and the late Gabriella Jessie of New Orleans, LA. Latricia (Late Clarence) Henderson of Baton Rouge, LA. and Oscar (Paulette) Jessie of Sacramento, CA. One adopted brother; Ronald Hammond of Harvey, LA.; 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. “Mama Lydia” is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Clothilde Mitchell Morrison; one sister Cora Mae Prevost Norman; two daughters Shirletta Tate and Gabriella Jessie; two grandsons Keith Bowers Sr. and Demond Jessie; one great-grandson Cardell Jessie Jr. and one great-great-granddaughter Jery’Ell Jessie.
