Kimberly Rose Norwood was born on January 5th, 1964 in San Joaquin county at the San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, California. She was born to Velma and Norman Norwood and was the youngest of nine children.

Kimberly graduated from Stagg High School in Stockton, CA. She was one of the first African American students to help desegregate the high schools in Stockton.

In 1986 she gave birth to her daughter Mattice. In an effort to give her a better life, she continued going to school. She graduated from San Joaquin Delta Community College in 1990 with an Associates in Arts, concentrating on sciences. She then graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1994 with a Bachelors of Science, with a major in biology and a minor in social services.

In 1997 she had her second child, her son Bryant. With the growing violence, poverty and lack of resources happening in her hometown, she made the decision to move to Washington State to further her own education as well as provide a better future for both her children.

In Washington she continued her education at the University of Washington while building a bright future for her family.

She loved people! She loved doing various craft activities and trying new things in group settings.

Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Mattice and her son Bryant. Her sisters Cecilia, Barbara, and Margaret, and her brother Otis-Charles, with a score of nieces and nephews. She is proceeded by her parents, her brothers Dewayne and Ray, and her sisters Cynthia and Nettie Jean.
