Obituary For Kathleen Smith

Kathleen Smith

September 22, 1952 - August 9, 2023

Kathy Smith, age 70, recently passed away at her home in Renton, WA.

Born in the small town of Silverton, Oregon, to Robert and Cecilia (Smith) Stuckart, Kathy grew up in Sublimity, OR on farm just outside of the small town. She attended St .Boniface Grade School, Sublimity, Regis High School in nearby Stayton, and Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.

Kathy was fourth of six children: siblings Ann Marie (Annie), Mike, Sue, Rosemary (Romey), and Roberta (Robbie). Sisters Sue and Romey preceded her in death, along with both of her parents, her son Tristan and former spouse Chuck.

Kathy married Chuck Smith and had sons- Tristan and Walter. After her marriage to Chuck, they moved to Anchorage, AK, where Kathy worked for Alaska Airlines Cargo. Chuck and Kathy then moved to Renton, WA where Kathy continued to work for Alaska Airlines. After leaving Alaska Airlines, Kathy worked at Valley Hospital admissions in the emergency room in Renton for several years while pursuing many hobbies.

Kathy’s love of photography prompted her to use an original Diana camera and publish three books with unique photos focused on Seattle, Savannah, GA and Key West, FL. She loved animals, and volunteered at the Humane Society. Kathy stayed in Renton after her retirement. One of her favorite past times was watching British mysteries and detective shows, and discussing these mysteries with family and friends. Kathy continually pursued personal development and spiritual growth. She was always taking classes and reading books, trying new techniques and sharing this knowledge and experience with her friends. Kathy had a very kind heart and a generous soul and shared much with her loved ones.

Although Kathy lived in Renton for the last forty years, she traveled to the Oregon coast on many occasions for family reunions and was close with nieces and nephews along with her siblings.

There will be no memorial service at Kathy’s request, but there are plans to scatter her ashes on the family farm in Oregon, where she will be surrounded by all that she loved- family, animals and nature.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Seattle Humane Society.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us everyday unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and always dear”. -Unknown
