Obituary For Julius Philip Hubeek

Julius Philip Hubeek was born April 21, 1952, to Arie and Philippien Hubeek in Madiun, Indonesia. He has 4 brothers and 2 sisters. When he was 5 years old the family moved to Holland. Three years later, in 1960, when Julius was 8, they moved to the United States after being sponsored by a church near Albany, Oregon. They soon moved to Kent, Washington where he resided until his death. He graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1971. He and Paula were married May 28, 1988. He worked for Western Electric and Hexcel and retired from Kenworth Truck Company.

Julius loved his family and would never miss an opportunity to attend a family get together. He especially had a soft spot for his nieces and nephews. He was very sentimental. For many years he continued the tradition that Mama started by giving each of his brothers and sisters and their spouses a chocolate letter from Holland. He would also get Dutch chocolate sprinkles and the salty Dutch licorice for who liked it. He played softball for many years and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved animals, especially his dog Barney and his cats.

Julius died Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 69, in Seattle from complications after heart surgery. He is survived by his wife Paula of Kent and his siblings and in-laws, Ron and Fran Hubeek of Federal Way, Mike and Francisca Padgett of Kent, Ed and Kim Hubeek of University Place, Oz Hubeek of Kent, Winnie Hubeek of Seattle and Rich and Whitney Hubeek of Spanaway, 10 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Joe Hubeek.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Lake Tapps Community Church in Lake Tapps on Saturday, December 4, at 1:00 p.m.
