Obituary For JoAnn Marie Henke

JoAnn Marie (Smith) Henke, 79, of Kent, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19, 2021, in the home where she raised her family and lived for 55 years.

She was born on January 2 nd , 1942 to Leon Smith and Adelaide (Bye) Smith, in Churchs Ferry, North Dakota. She graduated high school in Churchs Ferry, attended two years of college in Minneapolis, then returned to marry and start her family, before moving to Kent, Washington in 1965.

JoAnn was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put her family above everything else.

She is survived by her four children, Carmen Sorensen, Darren Henke (Kristin), Dana Henke (Suzie) and Brandon Henke; her seven grandchildren, Kylee Henke, Kaitlin Baker, Briana Carnevale, Mackenzie Henke, Elle Henke, Marcus Henke and Mitchell Sorensen; and her three great grandchildren, Beau Baker, Cal Baker and Natalie Carnevale.

JoAnn is also survived by her three brothers, Bob Smith, John Smith and Ron Smith, and was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Adelaide Smith, and two brothers Leon Smith and David Smith.
