Recent Obituaries

Jeffry J. Luce, age 68, loving husband to Jenelee, father to Jcob, Jianah, Tonya and Konan, passed away on May 25, 2019. As a child, Jeff lived in the Alderwood WA area, but soon moved to Stanwood WA where his parents bought a farm where Jeff enjoyed one of his life’s interests: training and working with the family farm’s Quarter Horses and Thoroghbreds.

Jeff attended and graduated from the Stanwood/Camano Island School District. As a young man he was known for a quick wit, an adventurous spirit and for his prized possession, his Jaguar. Jeff spent many hours telling his children about the adventures in his car, most of which had the common topic of grinding his tires and going fast.

After graduating from high school, Jeff volunteered for military service as a Marine. While stationed in Hawaii, the Marines asked for volunteers to serve a tour of duty in Vietnam, and Jeff bravely stepped forward. He shared a bond with his fellow Marines and all service members every day thereafter. Jeff was a Marine in so many ways right up until the day he passed away. His children and relatives are so proud of the voluntary sacrifice that he made for his country. Like many others, who were so fortunate to come home safely, his time in Vietnam left its scars.

Jeff married for the first time in 1970. He had two children, Tonya and Konan. He was proud of them and their many adventures and accomplishments. He was proud that both Tonya and Konan graduated from Washington State University. He was proud to watch and share Tonya’s passion for horses and he was proud to spend time with Konan biking in the summers in the San Juan Islands.

Jeff remarried again to the love of his life Jenelee on March 30, 2009. Shortly thereafter, he had two more children: Jcob and Jianah. He was so proud of Jcob and Jianah and relished the opportunity to be a father again later in life. Jeff has taught Jcob and Jianah to have strong moral values, how to be compassionate and to be a respectful person in life. He taught them the value of education, and how to make good decisions in life. While he showed them how to have fun and to laugh, he did this by being a nurturing father, coach and firm disciplinarian, along with being a loving parent.

Jeff is survived by his wife and children, oldest brother Greg, Greg’s wife Teresa and his sister Trina. Jeff is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Norman and his mother Rae.
