Obituary For Gregory Rhynalds
Gregory Dean Rhynalds, 69, passed away on Sunday, December 23rd, 2018 at the VA Puget Sound hospital in Seattle, WA. He fought a hard one year battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He will forever be a fighter in our memories.
Greg was born on March 29th, 1949 to William and Melvina (Melba) Rhynalds. He grew up and attended school in the Snoqualmie Valley. He left home at the age of 17 and moved to Wyoming. It was at that time Greg joined the US Army. He was an E-5 Missile Crewman, was stationed in Germany for some of his term and served during the Vietnam War. He is known to most as a long term hodcarrier and bricklayer.
Greg enjoyed his family and friends, old cars and trucks and loved being at his property at Lake Connor Park. He enjoyed being outdoors splitting firewood, watching fireworks, riding his custom quad, decorating extravagantly for the holiday seasons and loved his sweet treats. He will always be remembered by his immediate family as ‘pops’.
He is survived by his long term partner and friend Linda Applin, Edmonds WA, son Jerrod (Lisa) Rhynalds, Marysville WA, daughter Krystle (Robert) Straughn, Tacoma WA and 5 grandchildren. Siblings, Paula (Jim) Corner, Maple Valley WA, Mick Rhynalds, Fall City WA, Vicki (Dave) Prien, Surprise AZ, Dixie (Rick) Hoffart, Sequim WA, Cherri (Candi) Smith, North Bend WA, Sheila (Dennis) Simpson, Springfield OR, Randy Rhynalds, Edmonds WA and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Melvina Rhynalds, and his brother Billy (Bud) Rhynalds.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at 1 o’clock pm at the Tahoma National Cemetery 18600 SE 240th ST, Kent, WA 98042. There will be a gathering for friends and family at The Dahlia Barn 13110 446th Ave SE, North Bend WA. Gregory’s friends and family are welcome to attend both.
