Ellen Marie Dooley

Obituary For Ellen Marie Dooley

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Ellen passed away peacefully August 16, 2024 after a short, brave battle with cancer. Her faith gave her comfort, knowing she would go to a beautiful home.

She was born in Rahway, NJ and graduated high school there in 1981. She moved to Washington State in 1987, along with other members of her family, and had a long career in the insurance industry.

Ellen was loved by all for her kindness, generosity, loyalty and compassion. She was always quick to ask how you were doing, enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, especially the littles, and delighted everyone with her quirky Christmas gifts! She always remembered personal details, making thoughtfulness a core quality to her effervescent soul.

Ellen brightened every room she occupied with her joyous laugh, and a gentle glimmer in her expressive blue eyes. Our hearts are left warmer for having known her.

She is survived by her sisters and their spouses; Beth and Doug, Kathleen and Ed, Laurie and John, and Deb and Tom. She was also a loving aunt to Lee and Shannon, Colin, Emily, Dylan and Bree, Michael, Patrick, Ian, Anthony, Aidyn, Hannah and Trevor, and loving great aunt to Liam, Evelina, Shane, and Malachi.

    I remember Ellen as a quiet person, and studiousness. I would see her walking through the halls of the Rahway Junior High School when classes switched. Sad to hear of her passing.

    Ellen and I had parallel careers at the same insurance company for many years. She on the insurance side and me in tech support. Whenever I saw a ticket submitted to us by Ellen, I tried my best to get it assigned or re-assigned to me. I really enjoyed providing her tech support because she was always sincerely appreciative and she was always a joy to be around. Her smile and sincere greetings had a way of taking the edge off an otherwise arduous day. She and I even exchanged Christmas cards for several years after we both left the company. Ellen’s obituary perfectly describes her and I don’t have the words to express my thoughts any better. I’ll just say that Ellen was a rare person and she is greatly missed.
