Obituary For Donald William Munro

Donald William Munro, 64 years of age, passed away at his home with his family on January 1, 2023. Born to his parents, Alan and Constance Munro in Queens New York, New York.

Donald (Don) was a self-taught electrician and later a licensed journeyman where he worked in Juneau, Prudo Bay Alaska, Nashville Tennessee, Nevada, Seattle and Internationally. He also worked in construction, refrigeration, and electronics.

Donald loved to play the guitar as he taught himself. Don had an amazing appetite for tasty food but mostly cuisine cooked at home, mom taught him how to cook at a young age and he loved to carry on that tradition and especially loved leg of lamb or a good organic roast, with panned-browned potatoes, home-made gravy and for the lamb fresh mint sauce if possible. He loved to laugh, watch good movies and listen to goo music, but it had to be on the best stereo system and quality speakers.

Don had a grand appetite for quality equipment that was expertly made. Don’s ability to talk and meet new people everywhere he went was one of his natural strengths, he met many beautiful, amazing people living in Juneau, Tennessee and Seattle where he lived most of his adult years and become a settled part of the Seattle community. Don volunteered at St. Mary’s food bank where he met Operations Manager Deep Singh, who quickly became his mentor and brother as well, they were great friends and became his extended family.

Don was truly fortunate to belong to a loving community where he was able to live and work comfortably, and that allowed him to live the life he wanted to. Don really enjoyed his work and the friends he met during his time there. He was very appreciative to everyone and their kindness and especially appreciated the diversity in which he lived and where he learned so much about people and culture. While Don was baptized Catholic and attended the Catholic Church he welcomed the opportunity to learn about other religions, cultures and traditions. His appetite was large for food from around the globe and he often cooked new recipes and loved to share his dishes with his family.

Donald is preceded in death by his father Alan R. Munro, his older brother’s Alan D., and Scott Munro. He is survived by his mother Constance, his brother Peter, sisters, Carol, Jean and Meg and Sister-in-law Melanie; Children, Jesse, Sunshine, Jason and Jarad, Niece Rochelle, Nephews, Christopher, William, and Hunter, and their children and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Cards and condolences to the family can be mailed to the following address: P.O. Box 871541 Wasilla, Ak. 99687

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s in memory of Donald Munro.

Donald was a good man, and a good friend. He was always willing to lend a hand and was particularly skilled at solving problems with electronics and machines. For a person with little he was remarkably generous. I am thankful for the time he was in my life. I truly miss him.
