Obituary For Debra Wallace
Debra Lea Wallace, 49, of Covington, WA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2019 after a shocking hospitalization December 20th and very short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Debra, known as Debbi or Deb to many of her loved ones, was born on January 16, 1969 to Don and Donna (Smith) Wallace in San Diego, CA. She graduated from Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, CA in 1987. She moved to Seattle in the early 90s and began working in the Casino Industry as a card dealer. She was always a go getter, who was never willing to settle so she worked hard and was able to work her way up to Management in the industry.
In 2014, she accomplished one of her biggest goals and bought her first home all by herself in Covington, WA, which was truly a dream come true for her. Shortly after she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She fought hard and went into remission but dealt with many debilitating side effects from the chemo which led to her being on long term disability. This allowed her to fulfill another long time dream of going back to school. She attended Green River College and was working hard towards a Bachelors Degree in Network Database Administration. She worked hard and was incredibly proud of her accomplishments thus far.
She was incredibly loving and fiercely protective of her family and friends. She adored her kids and never missed a chance to tell anyone how proud she was of them, she was truly obsessed with her grandkids, and had an amazingly special bond with her best girlfriends, Tanya, Selene, Krissie, KK, and Dawn.
She was a very creative person and enjoyed many arts and crafts, but especially loved crafting with her granddaughters. She also loved anything to do with home décor and decorating spaces. She had a passion for reading and was always known to have a book in her hands from when she was a kid on. She enjoyed outdoor activities like gardening, camping, fishing and hiking, anything that got her in the sun and on the water. She loved her dog, Trixie, and took Trixi almost everywhere with her! She was known for her love of teal and was always spotted with something teal on her, from her hair, to her clothes, to her home décor. For many the color teal will forever remind us of our beloved Deb.
Debra is survived by her son, Adam Wallace, 16, daughter Amanda Allen and son-in-law Michael, grandkids Kaylee, Sierra, and Mikey Jr, sister and brother Deana and David Sommerville, dad Don Wallace and step mother Marilyn Wallace, many dear friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna, and other loved ones.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial will take place in the summer, her favorite time of year in Seattle, when we can get outside and truly celebrate the life of a beautiful woman gone way too soon.
