Recent Obituaries

Cathleen Anne Brooks passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022 surrounded by her husband and children, at Good Sam Hospital in Puyallup, WA. Cathleen was born March 2, 1955 in Oak Park, Illinois to Helen and Jack Cannon. She married Jimmie L Moncrief in 1971 in Las Vegas Nevada and raised 3 children. Cathy married Troyce Brooks in Honolulu Hawaii in June 2002, adding two step sons.

Cathy had many jobs but it was her time with her mother at Pet Jungle in Federal Way, WA, that led to her career as a Master Dog Groomer and owner of Golden Shears Pet Salon. Cathy’s hobbies included camping, hiking, model railroading and even sky diving. Her last hobby which she shared with her husband was spinning fibers into yarn, crocheting and weaving. She won many awards at the local fairs and a 2012 Handweavers Guild of America award for home arts exhibits. While her health declined over the years she still loved to camping with Troyce.

Cathy is survived by three children, Sean (Angie) Moncrief, Sheila Moncrief and Scott Moncrief, two step children Tristan Brooks and Derrick (Amanda) Brooks, and 2 grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Greg (Lisa) Cannon, Jeff (Michelle) Cannon, Tim (Tina) Cannon, Mike (Sue) Cannon and Colleen Cannon. She is proceeded in death by her parents Helen Schultze and Jack Cannon.

A simple memorial service was held at her home in Parkland, WA on her birthday March 2nd.
