Obituary For Arthur Pfalzer Jr

Arthur was born on June 15th , 1926 in Mineola, on Long Island, New York to parents Arthur Pfalzer, Sr. and Ruth Ann (Wicks) Pfalzer. At that time, Calvin Coolidge was President of the United States, Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln would pass away at 83 on July 26th , and 19 year old Gertrude Ederle of New York City would become the first woman to swim the English Channel.

Arthur passed away of a heart attack on May 17th, 2020, in Shoreline, Washington, just shy of his 94th birthday. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served as a photo lab technician at Will Rogers Army Air Field in Oklahoma. His service with the Army ended with an honorable discharge in January 1946.

He would go on to marry Priscilla A. Ballard of Barnesville, Ohio and have two sons, William Erich Pfalzer and Fritz Pfalzer, later changing his name to, Frederick T. C. Ballard, while residing in Granville, Ohio.

Arthur’s primary employment skill was that of a sales manager with several defense supply companies, beginning with North American Aviation, Republic Aviation, Hoover Electric Company, and Thompson. He maintained a lifelong enjoyment of all things dealing with aviation, and that of photography.

After a divorce in 1981, Arthur moved to the Seattle, Washington area and lived out his reaming years in Bellevue, Auburn, and Shoreline. A second marriage, to Margaret Marie Williams, lasted a few years and ended in divorce in 1990.

Surviving Arthur’s death are his nephew, Arthur H. Grotheer, and nieces; Christine C. Higgs, Janis A. Shannon, and Barbara M. Grotheer, along with sons Erich Pfalzer and Frederick Ballard. His sister, Ann E. Grotheer and brother-in-law, Herbert Grotheer both preceded him in death.

Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. The Covid-19 pandemic will limit a memorial service to being performed via the internet on the Zoom Meeting platform.
