Wayne William Flaherty September 1935 - November 2019. Resident of Tacoma Washington.

Wayne passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 21, 2019. Wayne was born and raised in Kewaunee, WI and graduated from Kewaunee High School. He went on to study at the University of Wisconsin where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Wayne spent his career with the Federal Aviation Administration as a Planning Engineer working on airport and runway plans throughout the United States and culminated his career working in Seattle.

Wayne was the first of two sons born to the late Bill and Edna Flaherty and the beloved husband of Shirley Flaherty for over 57 years. Wayne will forever be remembered by his devoted children Catherine M. Greene (Brian), Kelley M. Fiala (Brian), Kerry M. Alleman (Robert), and Daniel S. Flaherty (Perri), loving grandchildren Noah and Aaron Greene, Madelyn and Rachel Fiala, Matt, Andrew and Michael Alleman, Carter and Cassidy Flaherty, treasured great granddaughters Alida and Darcy Alleman and caring brother Richard Flaherty, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

Wayne loved being around and living near the water when possible. He had a passion for sailing, hitting the slopes to ski, being with his family. Wayne enjoyed passing on his sailing and skiing skills to his children. Wayne was very involved in Knights of Columbus in his younger days and rose to the 4th degree level within the organization. He was a member of St. Theresa’s church in Federal Way.

Wayne touched the lives of many people with his smile and caring ways. The memorial service will be held at a date to be determined in the future.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be sent to American Diabetes Association.

Wayne was the glue that held our family together. He will always be my favorite brother-in-law. He brought peace and happiness into our lives. His thoughtfulness and selflessness was a standard that he lived by as long as I have known him.
