Obituary For Walter "Walt" Cullen Hutchinson

Walter C. “Walt” Hutchinson, 73, of Ravensdale, Washington, died September 17th. He retired from Boeing Company the end of 2010, where he was a Compliance Officer, but throughout his life and in various parts of the United States, he had occupations from ship’s welder and masonry assistant to freight forwarder and farmer.

He was a native of Washington, born in Seattle, and spent most of his childhood in South King County, graduating from Tahoma High School in 1968.

Those that knew Walt also knew that, from the time he was a young boy, he had wanted to “go see”, and go see he did. And the best way he wanted to see was on a motorcycle, which he did for more than 50 years. He rode all over the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and others. By the end of his life, he had been on every continent, except Antarctica.

Walt had countless stories and photographs from his travels, all of which he was eager to share. He loved to talk about the people he had met and the places he had seen, but he always came back to the Pacific Northwest and his home state of Washington.

His sense of humor, storytelling, generosity of spirit, love of life and endless curiosity will be sorely missed by all those that knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his life partner, Karen Estrada, daughter Raven Hutchinson of Las Marias, Puerto Rico, and grandson, Quinn Hutchinson Tam of Lynwood, Washington. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter C. Hutchinson, Sr., and mother, Mabel Durant. A celebration of his life is planned for a later date.
