Obituary For Virginia Gladys Shea

Virginia G. Shea, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at 92 on February 2, 2024, surrounded by family in Seattle, Washington. She was born in Missoula, Montana.

After graduating from Missoula County High School, Virginia began her long career in the telephone industry, starting as a telephone operator with Mountain Bell in Montana. She dedicated over four decades to the industry, retiring from US West.

Virginia married John Shea, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of 67 years until his passing. Together they had four children.

Virginia's passion for quilting was well-known among her family and friends. She spent countless hours creating intricate and beautiful quilts, showcasing her creativity and talent. An active member of the quilting community, Virginia participated in the Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop annually, where she collected fabrics for themed quilts. Her dedication was unmatched, as she was one of the few in the area to complete all the quilts. Additionally, she selflessly contributed quilts to New Beginnings, a sanctuary for women escaping domestic violence, spreading warmth and comfort to those in need. May her quilts continue to wrap us in warmth, just as her love enveloped our hearts.

Virginia is survived by her four children and their spouses: Michael (Josephine) Shea, Kevin (Corla) Shea, Carolyn Christoferson, and Diane (Craig) Cramer. She was a cherished grandmother to Patrick Shea, Danielle Shea, Lisa Christoferson, Anna (Emmett) Shea, Justine (Joshua) Money, and Cole Cramer. Virginia was blessed with great-granddaughters, Meredith Apgood-Shea, Emma and Quinn Money. Although miles separated her from her great granddaughters, her heart swelled with warmth as she cherished the moments shared through messages and photographs. Her love and wisdom will continue to resonate through the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Shea, grandsons Christopher Shea and Garrett Cramer, her parents, Henry and Gladys Allen, her brothers Allen and Richard Allen and sister Barbara Farrington.

In honoring Virginia's memory, her family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
