Obituary For Sara Ann Jackson
Sara Ann Jackson, known by her loved ones as Momo, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Maple Valley, Washington on July 19, 2026, at the age of 89. Born in South Pittsburg, Tennessee on September 7, 1936 to parents Annie Beatrice Hill and Charles H. Scissom, Sara was the oldest of four children. Sara was predeceased by her cherished brothers Charles “Charlie” Scissom and John “Fuzzy” Steele. Her sister and best friend, Susie Belk, resides in Jasper, Tennessee.
Sara graduated from South Pittsburgh High School in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Woody” Jackson, on August 13, 1955. They settled down in Lubbock, Texas and started their family with the birth of their first son, Amos Brian, followed by Robert Jeffrey two years later. Bob’s work relocated them back to Tennessee where their first daughter, Elizabeth Ann, was born in Nashville. Three years later, their second daughter, Sandra Kay, was born in Jasper.
The family resided in Kentucky when Bob was offered a promotion to work in Seattle, Washington. They made the bold decision to move to the Pacific Northwest, which they have all called home for the last 50 years. Bob and Sara took a leap of faith and started their own trucking company, Transportation Consolidators Inc., in 1983. Bob did the long-haul trucking while Sara kept the business running smoothly for over 20 years.
When Sara wasn’t taking care of kids (both her own and the neighborhood kids) or running the business, she enjoyed sitting in the sunshine, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, sewing, and canning fruits and vegetables. Everyone especially looked forward to her canned apple butter and bread & butter pickles. She loved cooking meals for her family, with her chicken and dumplings being a family favorite. Sara’s most cherished pastime, however, was spending time with her six grandkids and seven great-grandkids. They brought her so much joy, and she always wore her biggest smile whenever they were together. The love she gave to each one of them is immeasurable.
As Sara is reunited in heaven with Bob, the love of her life, she is survived by her beloved family: her sister, Susie Belk; her son Brian and daughter-in-law Mandy; her son Jeff and family (partner Sandi; grandchildren Tanya, Jeffery, Katie, and Emma; and great-grandchildren Meghan, Sydney, Makayla, Wyatt, Alex, Audrey, and Adriana); her daughter Beth and family (son-in-law Eric and grandson Brody); and her daughter Sandy and family (son-in-law Mark and grandson Zach).
Sara was valued for her sweet and humble character, her generous heart, and her calming presence. She lived an incredibly rewarding life, unconditionally devoted and dedicated to her family and friends. We are all blessed to have been loved by her. Sara and Bob truly cherished one another, and it gives our hearts a little solace knowing that they are together again. Momo will be deeply missed, but the memory of her beautiful smile and kind heart will live on for all who knew her.
