Obituary For Judith (Judy) Ann Conrad-Huard
Judy was born in Port Angeles, Washington, on March 8, 1946. She was the second child of Jack and Rita Forsythe. Judy spent most of her childhood years in Port Angeles except for a short time in California where Jack died in a car accident. The family then returned to Port Angeles where Judy graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1964. She spent some time after graduation at Mr. Lee’s Beauty School in Seattle where she studied cosmetology. After returning to Port Angeles, she gave birth to her only child, Celecia Rita Conrad (Cece). Judy then began a long career in food service, eventually moving back to the Seattle area and spending 25+ years at Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus Restaurants – first in Renton and then in Burien and Federal Way. She was proud of her many years at the Black Angus and enjoyed making and keeping many lasting friendships with her coworkers. It was during that time that she met her husband, Christopher Huard, to whom she was married until her death. They spent nearly 46 years together, including almost 36 years as husband and wife.
Many of Judy’s friends will remember her love of purple. Her little sister, Gay, still remembers Judy hijacking her coloring books as a child and coloring EVERYTHING ON THE PAGE PURPLE. She kept her hair purple for dozens of years which never failed to elicit compliments from complete strangers wherever she went. It suited her and she had an unending supply of matching outfits and earrings. The accompanying photo shows her in front of the purple tulips during an outing with Gay to Mt. Vernon in 2018.
Judy’s health declined as a result of multiple strokes during the last years of her life, but Chris took excellent care of her at their home in Kent. She always raved about how Chris “does everything for me.” Her health took a turn for the worse in June and she passed peacefully a few weeks later.
Judy is survived by her husband Chris, her daughter Cece Conrad, brother Will Forsythe, sister Gay Eibey (Stephen) along with grandchildren Scott Smalley (Anita) and Amber Meadors. Scott and Anita provided Judy with two great grandchildren, Alaina and Kayden. Also surviving are Judy’s nephews Billy Forsythe (Shannon), and Dylan Eibey (Selena); nieces Lisa Griffin (George), Tina Ashing (Joe) and Jacqueline Eibey; grandnieces Rosalie Forsythe and Brianna Ashing-Mendez (Jasson), and grandnephews James Griffin, Sean Forsythe and Holden Ashing.
No services are planned at this time.
