Obituary For Janet Dee Cornelius
Janet Dee Cornelius was born January 18, 1935, in Elko, Nevada and passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 90. Her parents eventually moved her and her two sisters to Seahurst, WA, where she met her husband while attending Highline High School. She was married to William N Cornwell after graduating High School and had three children; Cheri, Caren and Jeffrey. They bought a house in the Bow Lake, WA neighborhood and made many long-lasting friendships with other families while living there.
For many years Janet worked for United Airlines; first in the flight kitchen and later as a Reservation Agent. She excelled as a Reservation Agent and received several awards commending her on her outstanding performance, which she was very proud of due to all of her hard work and dedication.
The past 23+ years Janet lived in Belmor Mobile Home Park, Federal Way, WA, where she was involved in many of the community activities. She made many wonderful, loving, long-lasting friends during this time. She especially enjoyed the crafters group that she led for many years and hosted birthday parties for all the members.
Janet is survived by her sisters Judith Winquist and Deborah Severtson-Coffin; her children Cheri Bakos, Caren Barnes and Jeffrey Cornwell; her grandchildren Thomas Barnes III and Erryn Fredrick; her great grandchildren Thomas Barnes IV, Rex Fredrick, Cameron Barnes, and Colt Fredrick. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Sanford (Si) Severtson and Marie Miller; and her sister Karen Giovi.
Janet will be remembered by all for her infectious laughter, her ability to make everyone around her feel valued, loved and cared for. She was in inspiration to all when faced with the challenges of life she faced.
She LOVED birds! Next time you see one think of her!!
