Obituary For Dan Terry
On Monday, July 29th, Dan Terry, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 62.
Dan was born December 10th, 1956 in Seattle, WA to Roy and Helen (Cameron) Terry. He attended Highline Community College, where he competed on the swim team, before he was hired as a crane technician at F.T. Crowe. He married Nancy Andrich on September 19th, 1981. They were married for 27 years and raised a son, David, and two daughters, Julie and Jill. During this time, Dan also helped raise his nephew, Jeremy, and his wife’s great nephew and niece, Brian and Jessika. On June 30th, 2013 Dan married Susan Gould and was another father to her son, Spencer.
Dan was a warm, quiet man who loved practical jokes and working with his hands. Those who knew him best knew that his feelings were most often expressed through his caring smile and his soft eyes, which were accentuated by their bright blue color. As a young man, Dan had a strong temper, but the years of marriage and fatherhood had nearly erased it from his demeanor. Still, he could be extremely stubborn in his opinions and his intentions, which when added to his calm demeanor, exuded a strong spirit and steadfast determination.
Dan was an extremely capable and dedicated worker. After working at F.T. Crowe for 11 years, he opened his own crane construction and maintenance business, Facilities Services Inc, which he ran for 13 years. Following FSI’s closure he worked for Washington Crane and Konecranes before before branching out as an industrial air compressor technician at Atlas Copco, where he worked for over 8 years until his passing. There Dan had a reputation for being the first one to work, completing jobs in short order, and the one most likely to answer off-hours emergency calls from clients. Dan’s coworkers always appreciated his dedication and his light sense of humor, which brightened their days with his near-daily practical jokes.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Roy, his mother, Helen, his brother, Mike, his sister, Christine, and his nephew, Paul. He is survived by his wife, Susie, his brothers, Roy and Bob, his 3 children, David, Julie, and Jill, his stepson, Spencer, 7 grandchildren, his nephews Jeremy, Justin, and Jason, his niece, Wendy, and his great nephew and niece, Brian and Jessika.
A viewing will be held on Monday, August 5th at 3:30pm at Cady Funeral Home, 8418 S 222nd St, Kent, WA. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 6th at 10am at the LDS meetinghouse at 19714 106th Ave SE, Renton, WA.
