Obituary For Thomas Harold Clark
Tom Harold Clark passed away unexpectedly on July 9th in Federal Way Washington at the age of 66.
Tom is survived by his wife, Ilona Thompson, and their kitty fur babies, Cotton and Sadie (Sissie preceding Tom). His brother, Jim Clark (Julia), his nephew Jesse Clark (Gwen) and Dena Ripple (Max), as well as great and great-great nephews and nieces. His foster parents, Ron and Judy Karlberg, and his foster siblings Brent, Kalyn, and Chanda Karlberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, Della Mae Sweet Clark and Harold McGee Clark and his older brother, Steve Clark.
Tom was born on May 6, 1953 in Clarkston, Washington, to Della Mae Sweet Clark and Harold McGee Clark. He graduated from Lewiston Senior High in 1971, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and baseball, which led him to a full ride scholarship to Boise State University. Tom played baseball for 4 years for BSU and graduated with a degree in secondary education. After graduation, Tom headed to California where he worked in maintenance at the Golden Gate Bridge (quite something for someone who didn’t like heights), various construction jobs to include building sports courts and even became a licensed plumber. In 1989, Tom met Ilona Thompson who would be by his side for the next 30 years. Two of the luckiest people to have found the loves of their lives.
In 1995, Tom and Ilona headed to the Seattle area where Tom finally realized his dream of becoming a real estate agent. Tom spent the next two decades working in real estate and was working for Berkshire Hathaway of Federal Way when he passed. Being a social person, Tom loved being there, where he worked and socialized with colleagues and clients alike.
“Every friend of Tom’s became a friend for life”. No truer words could be said about Tom. He was friendly, kind, soft-hearted, thoughtful, and cherished his childhood friends. This was evident in their annual get-together trips usually featuring his favorite sport, golf. Though family lived hours away Tom loved them all and never let a week or holiday pass by without a phone call, especially to his brother, Jim. Tom considered Coach Karlberg and Judy Karlberg his second set of parents and made Judy feel special every year with a Mother’s Day card.
At Tom’s request, no services will be held. Condolences may be sent to Ilona Thompson at P.O. Box 3916, Federal Way, WA 98063-3916. Memorials can be shown by way of donations to PAWS Cat City (Progressive Animal Welfare Society) 5200 Roosevelt Way NE Suite B, Seattle, WA 98105. Telephone: (206) 782-1700
