Obituary For Judy Anne Johnson-Wise
Judy A. Johnson-Wise of Kent, WA passed away at Swedish Hospital on December 12, 2019 at the age of 82. Judy was born in 1937, the daughter of the late Francis “Lucky” Johnson and Althea (Newton) Johnson, and grew up in Seattle.
Judy began her adult life as a stewardess before marrying and starting a family. She was an amazing multitasker, starting college with two young children at home. She eventually graduated with her masters in nursing. She was a Major in the Army Reserve Nurse Corps, in addition to being a head nurse for many years at Harborview Medical Center before trying a new adventure abroad in Saudi Arabia. In Riyadh, she worked as the associate nursing director of two different hospitals over five years and survived all of Desert Storm. While there, after trekking in Nepal, she met and married retired Navy Captain Stephen Wise in Dubai and they traveled extensively together, including the Seychelle Islands, before settling down in Seattle.
Back in Seattle, she became a Professor Emeritus at Highline CC, while working as a nurse practitioner and handling foreign adoptions with the law degree she had earned along the way. Her favorite job was teaching and helping her students achieve their goals. Retirement left time for her favorite hobby, reading, as well as two cruises in the Caribbean and a cruise to St. Petersburg and the British Isles.
She especially loved her grandchildren, bringing them gifts from afar and recruiting the young ones to sing and dance with her. They will miss her hilarious stories and wonderful laugh.
Judy is survived by her husband, Capt. Stephen Wise, USN, Ret.; children, Jennifer (Lance) Conklin; Dr. Todd (Vicky) LaRock; four grandchildren; three siblings, and a step-daughter.

Judy was one of my professors at HCC in Seattle. I graduated from the RN program there in 1999. She was a wonderful mentor, absolutely inspiring to all of us. I am blessed to have been taught by her. I didn’t realize she had passed. She is the epitome of a life well lived. Thank you for imparting your wisdom on us, Judy. I have been a nurse practitioner for the last 18 years and still use the skills you taught me in caring for my patients.

Kate and Chris, I have just seen this obituary and want to send my condolences on the death of your sister Judy. I remember her back when we were in high school- she lived off Seward Park Ave and Chris would babysit her kids. She was always smiling and full of fun. I’m happy to know she lived a long and accomplished life. I hope the two of you are well. If you would like to get in touch I can easily be found on facebook. Love, Yvonne LaTour Ashenhurst

I had the privilege of working with Judy from 1973 to whenever she left her position as Head Nurse on 3MH (Psychiatry) at Harborview Hospital. Then I would see her when, as an instructor, she took students from the Highline Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program thru their psychiatric rotation at Harborview. Judy and I were both graduate of Highline. I will always remember her professionalism, energy, and sense of humor.

My dearest Judith, My dearest Judith you have passed, And now for you I grieve at last. No longer will I hold your hand; No longer will I feel your love. For you will see me from above – I cry I weep. I am nothing at your feet. You were sweet and loving; You cared and welcomed everyone, And now your life is o’er. We will see you here no more, But I shall visit your grave and cry, So that your memory shall never die. Farewell my love. I shall always love you in my heart; In this regard we shall never part. Your loving husband, Steve
