Obituary For BrandySue Silvey Gordon

BrandySue Silvey Gordon was born September 17, 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri to Marie (Silvey) Wantz and raised in the St. Louis area. She spent her teen years in Wildwood, Missouri west of St. Louis with her adoptive parents Pamela and Michael Gordon, her younger siblings D.W. and Casey.

Brandy left us too soon as a result of a tragic automobile accident on April 18, 2020 in Sumner, Washington. With the help of many wonderful mentors BrandySue graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, Missouri, in 2007 and later moved to Colville Washington. In the last 5 years she moved to Kent (Seattle), Washington to be with her fiancé Matthew Becken.

From a very young age, she faced many challenges in her life. She met them all with her own style of resourcefulness and resolve with a smile on her face. She was often supported by her church family and faith-based organizations. She was confirmed at Ellisville United Methodist Church outside St. Louis, Missouri where she spent time in youth group activities, church services and vacation bible school.

Her first job was as a volunteer at The Magic House in St. Louis, a place she and many children in the area enjoyed countless hours of fun. She also volunteered with her family at church and at Ronald McDonald House events in St. Louis. In recent years she held positions at Amazon and the Seattle Times Newspaper.

BrandySue had a deep love of animals, particularly dogs and cats. From her childhood friend (dog) Buddy, to her current fur-babies (cats) Freya and Kloie, she was a devoted “person/parent” to her four-footed family. She often volunteered to pet-sit for family or friends and inevitably those animals became part of her family as well. In her junior year at Eureka High School, she spent a semester studying to be a vet tech.

Among the things that brought BrandySue the most happiness in her life were her daughter, the music of Beyoncé & Destiny’s Child, Starbucks Peppermint Coffee, Dr Pepper, Lego video games, WWE Wrestling, Teddy Bears and Groot (character from Guardians of the Galaxy). She was also an avid genealogist, enthusiastically conducting family research and compiling historical data.

BrandySue was building a joyful life with her fiancé Matthew and his extended family. She is survived by her little girl, Lexi Rose Johnson born February 7, 2009, her mother Marie and older siblings Christine and Joseph of Missouri, her adoptive parents Pamela and Michael and younger siblings D.W. of Missouri and Casey of North Carolina. She will also be missed greatly by the many extended family members, friends, and “chosen” family members in Washington, Missouri and Illinois, all of whom wanted to bring some sunshine to her life. She is preceded in death by her stepfathers and maternal grandparents.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Brandy’s life will be planned at a later date.
