Obituary for Frances Lund

On May 27th, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, Frances Lund entered this world. Born to Nicholas and Violet (Tarquinio) Faber, a boiler room worker at Common Wealth Edison and a hospital dietitian, she was the second oldest of seven children.

Fran grew up in Gages Lake, Illinois where she attended Warren High School. This is where she met her husband, Guy Lund. They met her sophomore year of high school, where they fell madly in love and were later married August 21, 1965. When asked why she didn’t finish high school she simply said “I just didn’t think about it” with a smile on her face.

Guy and Fran had three children and built a house together in Wadsworth, Illinois. In 1974, while visiting Guy’s family in Port Townsend, WA, they explored the state with their children and drove up to Port Angeles. Once they went to the top of Hurricane Ridge, they shared glances with each other and knew that is where they wanted to build a business and raise their family. Two years later in 1976, they paved the way to Washington State. They went into the plumbing business with Guy doing the work and getting the jobs, and Fran doing all the billing and paperwork. They were an amazing team.

Fran earned her GED at Peninsula Community College where she also continued to take courses. Fran was active in the kid’s Catholic School, Queen of Angels, and helped run the hot lunch program as well as many other school activities. Fran was also active in the Port Angeles Swim Club and helped organized the swim meets for club and high school for many years.

They retired in 2000, when they fell in love with traveling across the United States in their motorhome, traveling to Cabo, and even went on a cruise to the Caribbean. For over 25 years they would travel to Cabo San Lucas in January, becoming life-long friends with the people that went down at the same time every year. In 2005 they moved to Renton, WA and quickly became astounding members of the community. Fran found a swimming pool close to home and began teaching swim lessons and water aerobics (she was tough!). Fran volunteered at her granddaughter’s Catholic school for five years where everyone there called her Grandma Fran. Many children at the school and around Renton knew her from swimming lessons. Her interests included family, cooking, swimming, reading, watching movies and going out to lunch or dinner.

In July 2018, Fran was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer, and for 9 long months she courageously fought through all the pain. On April 16, 2019, Frances Lund departed the world, surrounded by her family in Renton, Washington.

Fran is survived by her husband, Guy O. Lund, her children Dawn Morton (Kevin), Michael Lund, and Julie Mineard (Monte), as well as five siblings, Janet Lease, Nicholas Faber, Lucille Carter, Thomas Faber, Maria Holimon, Aunt Frances Tarquinio, Uncle Joseph Schaberger, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren (one more on the way) and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceasing Fran is her grandparents Eugene and Josephine Tarquinio, her parents Nicholas and Violet Faber and her brother, Anthony Faber.

Fran was loved dearly by many because she was always there as a helpful hand or ear. She will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 13055 SE 192nd St Renton, WA 98058.
